Description

Yay! Yu Yu Hakusho fan art! :) I'm trying to spread the Yoshihiro Togashi love around more. I'm a huge fan of the authors work, both Yu Yu Hakusho and his current series Hunter x Hunter.

Maybe I'll make a small size print out of it for future conventions.
viva la 90's anime!

Yu Yu Hakusho is one of the more interesting anime out there. To count, it was the only show that could compete with Dragon Ball. And for this artwork, I feel like it captures the mood of the series very well.

For starters, the line work. I personally really enjoy how you emphasized the thickness of the outlines, while at the same time making it subtle enough to where it blended in with the environment naturally.

Next, the four characters there. I personally appreciate how you capture each guy's personality in a nutshell. Yusuke has a confident look to him, signifying his bravery and rough personality. As for the others, Kurama appears more calm and serene, which in hindsight, suits him perfectly. Hiei has more of a grimly determined look, signifying his character development in the Maze Castle Arc, Honestly, the only one that stumps me is Kuwabara. Unlike the comic relief character I'm used to, here, he has a serious look to him. Though maybe I'm overanalyzing this. When he's determined to take someone down, literally no one will stop him.

And finally, the background. Normally, I'd be more disappointed, but since this is a portrait, well, it instead provides a nice color contrast to the characters of said portrait, painting more of a mystic vibe, which the series itself nails.

So in short, marvelous job. I shall await some more art pieces you may make.
